- Contest Overview: Organised by the Mathematical Association of America(MAA), the American Mathematics Competition for the cycle of 2023-24 will begin from November 2023 starting with
- *American Mathematics Competition 10A-9th Nov 2023(For Grades 10 and below) *American Mathematics Competition 12A – 9th Nov 2023 (For Grades 12 and below) *American Mathematics Competition 10B-15th Nov 2023(For Grades 10 and under) *American Mathematics Competition 12B-15th Nov 2023(Grades 12 and under)
- **Candidates can register for more than 1 competition as long as the contest does not fall on the same day. Hence candidates CANNOT register for both AMC 10A and 12A but they can register for AMC 10A and 12B.
- American Invitational Mathematics Exam (II) – 8th Feb 2024 (Invited candidates only.) **Candidates can register for more than 1 competition as long as the contest does not fall on the same day. Hence candidates CANNOT register for both AMC 10A and 12A but they can register for AMC 10A and 12B.
- Aim of the Contest:*Promote the development and enhancement of problem solving skills.*Fosters excitement, enthusiasm and positive attitudes towards Mathematics through contest that is also fun.*Questions range from easy to very difficult and covers a wide range of topics including questions involving everyday applications to appeal to a broad range of students.*
- Contest Format: Students have to complete 25 multiple-choice-questions within 75 minutes. 6 marks for a correct response, 1.5 marks for a blank and 0 for incorrect answers.Total 150 marks.NO calculator is allowed.
- Eligible Grades: AMC 10 A/B: Students in Grades 10 and below as of Nov 2023. AMC 12 A/B, students have to be in Grades 12 and below as of Nov 2023.
- Topics:Topics covered in the AMC 10 includes mathematics topics up to 10th grade, such as elementary algebra, area and volume formulas, basic geometry, elementary number theory, and elementary probability. Topics for the AMC 12 covers the entire high school math curriculum, including trigonometry, advanced geometry, advanced algebra, and excluding calculus.
- Awards/Certificates: Honor Roll of Distinction(Awarded to the top 1% of scorers), Distinction -(Awarded to the top 5% of scorers). Achievement Roll, awarded to candidates who have obtained a score of at least 90/150 and are in Grade 8 and below when writing the contest for the AMC 10 and Grades 10 and below for the AMC 12.
