Junior Mathematical Olympiad (JMO)
★ Three levels eligible for different age groups
★ Encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques
The Junior Mathematical Olympiad (JMO) is a follow-on round to the Junior Mathematical Challenge but with no promotion. The JMO consists of a two-hour paper of more in-depth mathematical problems of which there are two sections:
Section A requires answers only whereas full written solutions are required for Section B.

Student Eligibility: Grade 7 or below
Format: Individual test, 25 multiple-choice questions
Scoring Rules: 5 points are awarded for each correct answer to questions 1-15, 6 points are awarded for each correct answer to questions 16–25, and wrong answers or answers left blank will be marked as 0.
The top 50% of UK participants will be awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze in the ratio 1:2:3. International participants will be awarded based on the UK thresholds. Students not amongst the high scorers will receive a Certificate of Participation in E-version.
Global Awards (2024 award thresholds)
- Gold: 86+
- Silver: 70+
- Bronze: 57+
- Best in School: The top 1 participant in the school
- Best in Year: The top 1 participant in each grade in the school

Student Eligibility: Grade 7 or below
Format: Individual test, 16 questions
● Section A: 10 short-answer questions. Only answers are required to the questions in Section A.
● Section B: 6 questions. Full-written solutions are required for questions in Section B.
Scoring Rules: 1 point for each question in Section A, up to 10 points for each question in Section B. Answers in Section B can be awarded partial marks depending on the clarity
of the participant's mathematical presentation. Answers left blank will be marked as 0.
The top 25%/65% of UK students will receive the Distinction/ Merit Award, and the top 40/100/200 students will receive the Gold/Silver/Bronze Medal. International participants will be awarded based on the UK thresholds. Students not among the high scorers will receive a Certificate of Participation in E-version.

Medals are awarded based on the total score of Section B
only
- Gold: 50+
- Silver: 43+
- Bronze: 38+
● JMC: SGD:40.00 per student
● JMO: SGD 116.00 per student
